I am SO excited to announce that i am now a part of the Scrap Our Stash July-December 2017 design team! I have been out of the swing of things for quite some time now and it feels so good to be able to get back at it! My first layout for SOS will be posted on July 2! Please stop by and tell me what you think. For most, if not all, layouts i do i will have a process video along with it. I hope you’ll stop by and play along! I’d love to see how you interpret the challenges!
So this week at my online Facebook party I wanted to show everyone how easy it is to recreate a page from our Seasonal Expressions idea book.
This page uses the Workshops Your Way ‘Dreamin Big’ scrapbooking kit. During the week I will show how I created 4 layouts and a pocket page using the kit from the ideas in the book. These are not the same instructional layouts that come with the kit. Today I’ll be sharing with you layout #1 along with its process video. If you’d like to come stop by and check out what we have going on at the party we’d love to have you! It runs until March 26th…. Online Scrapbook Party

So I don’t know about you but I struggle with taking a good picture of my layouts. Getting the right lighting, the right angle, the entire page in perfect focus. I honestly dread time for pictures.
My husband came home the other day with this brilliant idea for a DIY light box. I’ve seen it done on some Pinterest posts before. And it’s so easy!
First I started with a box that I had lying around in the garage. I cut the flaps off. Then cut square holes into 3 of the sides. 1 side and the bottom remain intact.
Once you do that, you need some kind of white material that is semi transparent. I’ve seen some use tissue paper. I had a banquet roll of plastic white tablecloth so that’s what I used. You have to tape it over the 3 holes you cut.
After that you’re almost done!
Now you need that big white poster board type paper you can buy at Wal-Mart or the Dollar Tree. Ya know the kind kids do school projects on. Not the cardboard stuff. The big heavy-duty piece of paper.
Cut that to the width of your box and tape it inside so it lays inside and runs out with a very subtle crease (In case you want to take pictures of other things beside your layouts. You don’t want to see the crease in the picture).
You can either just rest the layout against the back of the box. It stays pretty good. Or do what I did and use a small piece of tape from a tape runner and put it on the top back corners just to keep it secure.
Once you do that and you’re ready to take a picture you have 2 options. For an inside picture, you would need 2 portable bright lights/lamps you can place on either side to give you lots of light. Or take it outside and place it on its back (layout laying on the ground) in the direct sun. The box will diffuse the light for your picture.
It’s that easy! Make sure your camera is taking the picture with a high aperture for an incredible in focus picture.
Haha! Yes! Back in business. After an almost 2 year hiatus due to having my second daughter i’m back in my creative space creating! It feels so good! I have missed it so much. I love having a messy desk again. I feel so behind though! I think as scrapbookers we always feel behind, huh? Do we ever have everything we want completed in our albums? I don’t think so. I never did anyway.
I’m so upset in the middle of getting everything ready for posting again, i accidently deleted my orignal blog! It was TheHappyScrappyMomma.com. I wanted to cry! 3 years of projects, design team layouts, vidoes… all gone in one click! I don’t even know how i did it, which makes me even more angry. I thought I was deleting something else, not realizing that it would totally wipe out my blog in the process. I guess you live and you learn. What’s done is done. I think starting fresh after 2 years is okay though.
The project i’m sharing today is a special one. It’s of the pretty little lady that put me on my little creative pause. I can’t believe in 6 days she’ll be a year old already. Time goes by so fast! And i feel it has gone even quicker this time around compared to my first. I say all the time how i feel like i’ve missed so many things with her. But i’ve been with her every day of her little life. I feel like with the second you’re so busy taking care of the oldest and trying to make sure they adjust okay, then getting through the day, cleaning, laundry, feedings… i also homeschool my oldest so i have that to add on top of that list. With all of that going on i feel like i have not had the time to stop and just take in and cherish moments with my baby. With my first it was easier because i didn’t have anyone else to take care of. If i wanted to sit all day and hold her i could. Now i don’t have that luxury.
For this layout i took the Heidi Swapp heart backround stencil and scanned it into my Silhouette Cameo software and turned it into a cut file. I wish i had done a process video to show how i created the cut file but I neglected to do that. I will make sure to do that next time.
Once i cut it out, i adhered scrap pieces of paper behind the hearts and raised it with pop dots.
I then added the embellishments and title around the photo. The facing page to this in my album will be a pocket page of other pictures from the birth center and her birth story. A post of that to come later. I’m excited to use the Close To My Heart Flip Flaps for that page.
For the month of March you can receive this Close To My Heart stamp set for only $5.00 with a purchse of $50.00 or more (regular price is $17.95).
But during the month of March, if there is anything you see here worth sharing or moving you to follow my blog, each share or follow (whether you’re following my blog, instagram or facebook page) will enter you in for a chance to win this stamp set for FREE! I will randomly select a winner on March 31st. If nothing you see strikes a cord with you, don’t worry i understand. Just check back occasionally for other stamp of the month give-aways!
Please be sure to stop over on Friday. I will be posting a picture tutorial on how to make a light box for better layout photos.
